Title : Final Girl Support Group Author : Grady Hendrix I'm going to preface this by saying I was so excited to read this book after reading a previous book by Grady Hendrix so I may be a smidge biased but I digress. I really enjoy how Hendrix writes and the way he spins his web of words until you're trapped and have to finish reading even when you may be feeling a little too anxious to go on. Okay so, I enjoyed this book and the concept of the "final girls" in the horror movies I grew up watching thru my fingers all coming together once a month to support and uplift each other. I liked being able to read about how the final girls live their lives and after facing down their monsters. The way that they all learn to cope with their trauma in such different ways was disappointing, inspiring, and highlighted how everyone deals with things differently. As far as characters go the main character, Lynnette Tarkington, started out as a slightly annoying hermit who only leaves her house for her monthly meetings with the Final Girl Support Group. All of the sudden her world turns upside down and when push comes to shove she has to either run and hide (like she's done in the past) or stand up, fight, and face the monster that is hunting down her and her friends. Her character arch was great but Dani was my favorite character and I wish that she was featured more. The ending was good and wrapped up as nicely as a book about girls hunted by psycho killers could. Speaking of the end, I did not expect that twist! Such a fun read! I should also note that I listened to the audiobook version of this book and honestly, the narrator almost ruined the book for me. Stats Overall : 6/10 Spice : 0/10 Favorite Character : Dani Shipman Would I recommend this book? : Yes, it was entertaining from start to finish. Would I re-read this book? : Probably not, but I'm glad that I read it.
